Because I need some help. I was thinking about venturing into email marketing (after I learn more about it, of course) and ran across this company called murgent (em-urgent). I contacted them, and they gave me a crash course in safe email marketing. They told me about double opt in email marketing, and that gathering your own customers' email addresses is the safest way. I didn't even know there was another way, but they told me that some people rent or buy lists (sounds like a lot of spam to me!). They told me that all their customers get an "e-letterhead" w/the company name and address (i guess thats for the can spam laws) on it that automatically goes on every email. To me, they sound like a safe company, but I am new to this. What questions should I ask them before (if) I sign up with them? Has anyone heard of them before? Wise question you have there. The first thing you must know about marketing online is that there are a lot of cheats out there. So asking those who knows is a good thing to do. However many of the answers you will receive may not help you much as they will be focused on selling you something.

Still I advise that you do a search on the popular search engines, sign up for free online trainnings, free ebooks and any other thing you can pick up for free. Though these things does not offer much but they help you have a feel of what works.

And if you really want to quicken your knowledge then buy books.
